Notgasse – Literature/music performance
Peter Gruber reads from his 1998 novel ‘Notgasse’ about four brothers, the sons of the farmer of Gundagrin. The background is the late medieval world on the Dachstein mountain pastures, Luther’s teachings, the Reformation and the peasants’ uprising in the Enns Valley in 1525. The ‘Notgasse’ is a real gorge in the Dachstein massif, today an important rock carving site; it becomes the central setting for various events in the novel. The name ‘Notgasse’ can also be understood as symbolizing the era described in the novel.
