Fred Ohenhen

Fred Ohenhen, *1966 in Nifor near Benin City, Nigeria, trained as a teacher of English and German in Nigeria. After fleeing to Austria in 1989, he completed the Entrepreneurship School and an apprenticeship to become a qualified foreign trade merchant. He has been working as a project manager for intercultural education at ISOP since 1999. The aim of his work, which includes the organisation of Afro-Nights in Graz and family celebrations in several regions of Styria, is to counteract racism, prejudice and exclusion in society. He is also a regular speaker and workshop leader for various institutions and companies, including the universities of Graz and Klagenfurt, the BFI Styria and the Red Cross. For his commitment and work against racism, he received the Golden Medal of Honour of the Province of Styria in 2018 and the Intercultural Achievement Award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the IKU project.
