Why is the festival held in Filzmoos and Ramsau am Dachstein?

These regions were deeply affected by the tragedies of the Peasants' Wars and the Counter-Reformation, where intolerance led to the persecution and expulsion of many people due to their faith. The historical significance of these places and the joint efforts of Protestant Ramsau and Catholic Filzmoos to create a festival for tolerance made them ideal locations.
