
Reinhard Klaushofer
Reinhard Klaushofer, born in 1973, studied law at the University of Salzburg (Dr. iur. 2001) and qualified as a professor in constitutional and administrative law in 2011 with his thesis on structural issues relating to legal protection officers. In 2017, he was appointed to Paris Lodron University Salzburg and has been head of the Department of Public Law, International Law and European Law since 1 October 2019. Since 1 October 2015, he has also been president of the Austrian Institute for Human Rights (ÖIM). Visiting professorships have taken him to the University of Klagenfurt and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He is an expert in numerous national and international committees on human rights issues and has been involved in projects in Turkey, Bulgaria and the Netherlands, among others. At the national level, he advises on detention standards, detention pending deportation, deportations and police operations. Klaushofer is a member of the City of Salzburg’s Round Table on Human Rights, the Salzburg Youth Welfare Advisory Board and a board member of the Study Society for Economics and Law. Since 2012, he has headed the regional commission of the Ombudsman Board, and since 2021, the federal commission responsible for the judiciary.
