
Volodymyr Yermolenko
Volodymyr Yermolenko, born in Kiev in 1980, is a Ukrainian philosopher, journalist and writer. He studied at the National University of Kiev-Mohyla Academy, the Central European University in Budapest and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He holds a doctorate in philosophy and political science. He is an associate professor at the Mohyla Academy in Kyiv and head of analytics at the NGO Internews Ukraine. He hosts the podcasts Explaining Ukraine and Thinking in Dark Times. He is also editor-in-chief of UkraineWorld.org, an English-language multimedia project about Ukraine. As an author, he has received numerous awards, including the Myroslav Popovych Prize (2021), the Petro Mohyla Prize (2021), the Yuri Shevelov Prize (2018) and the Book of the Year Award in Ukraine (2023, 2018, 2015). His articles have appeared in The Economist, Le Monde, the Financial Times, The New York Times and Newsweek, among others. He has been president of PEN Ukraine since November 2022. He lives and works in Kyiv.
