The Dachstein Dialogues 2025 should have closed with a speech by the philosopher Kwame Anthony Appiah, who, unfortunately, had to cancel his participation at short notice. As concluding speaker, the Ukrainian philosopher and publicist Volodymyr Yermolenko has been secured. He lives in Kyiv and will be connected live to the stage via video screen for his talk.

Between the humanistic ideal and political challenge: how can tolerance be shaped in pluralistic societies? Volodymyr Yermolenko is one of the most prominent voices in his country. In his writings and lectures, he addresses themes of freedom, responsibility, and solidarity in times of war and crisis, and reflects on the boundaries of tolerance: how can respect for diversity be reconciled with the defense of democratic values? In his closing address for the Dachstein Dialogues 2025, Yermolenko offers impulses for a deeper debate about how we want to live together in the 21st century—a concrete stance in a world increasingly marked by conflict.
