SEMINAR: Uprisings, persecutions, ruptures in time for 500 years of peasant wars IV
Starting with the Battle of Schladming in 1525, when a victorious peasant army was mobilised by the miners for the first time, the series of seminars will debate the uprisings of peasants, craftsmen, burghers and the lower nobility in the Habsburgs’ sphere of rule and influence over four centuries: The Taborites in Bohemia, the ‘Cruciferi’ in Hungary, the Stara pravda of the Wends in Carinthia and Slovenia, the uprisings of the Tyroleans, Salzburgers and Upper Styrians from 1525 to the Great Jacquerie in Galicia in 1846.
